Hello there! As seasoned lash stylists, we’ve seen trends come and go, but one style that’s been catching our eye lately is the wet-look eyelash extension look. It’s a bold and dramatic look that can elevate any makeup look, and I’m here to spill the tea on all things wet-look lashes.

We’ve heard these sets called ‘wet-sets, angel sets, angel lashes, fairy lashes and aqua-lashes’ by stylists all over the world lately, and we’ve decided here at Lady Lash that ‘wet-look’ is the best description. So that’s what we’re calling them here. As they are literally lashes that look like they are…wet!

First off, let’s talk about what sets wet-look lashes apart from traditional volume lashes, or classic lashes. Wet-look lashes are achieved by applying volume lashes (super fine fibers) without fanning them out (or very little). Depending on the lash weight used, we’ll pick up anywhere between 3-8 lashes, and apply them without fanning. It gives a glossier and choppier finish and gives the illusion of wetness – adding an extra level of drama to your eyes. In contrast, traditional volume lashes focus on creating a fuller, more voluminous look without the added shine, and feel and look softer.

One of the great things about wet-look lashes is that they can work for a variety of eye shapes and styles. If you’re going for a more natural look, a few strategically placed wet-look lashes in another set (wisps) can give your eyes a subtle pop. But if you’re feeling daring and want to go all-out, a full set of wet-look lashes can make you feel like a total bombshell.

Now, let’s talk about maintenance. Just like any other lash extensions, you’ll need to take good care of your wet-look lashes to make them last. Be sure to avoid oil-based products and excessive moisture, as this can break down the adhesive and cause your lashes to fall out prematurely. And as with all lash extensions, be gentle when removing makeup and cleansing your face.

Is it suitable for everyone/all lash types? Almost. It’s not great if your own lashes are very fine, weak or you have gaps in your lash line, as it’s better to use traditional/fanned volume in this case.

And finally, for my fellow humor enthusiasts out there, let’s address the elephant in the room: no, wet-look lashes won’t actually make you look like you’ve been crying. Trust me, as a lash stylist, this is a question that is asked almost daily! But in all seriousness, wet-look lashes are a beautiful and eye-catching style that can add an extra level of glamour to any look.

So there you have it, folks – a crash course on wet-look lashes. Whether you’re a lash extension newbie or a seasoned pro, this trend is definitely one to try out. And who knows, you might just fall in love with the high-shine, wet-look finish!
